ESSNA welcomes MilaK and GoFitt to its growing membership

The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) has strengthened its membership with the addition of UK-based companies MilaK and GoFitt, bringing together biotechnology expertise and consumer wellness ambition under the association’s growing umbrella.

The two companies join the London-based trade body at a pivotal moment for the sports and active nutrition sector, as regulatory and policy developments continue to reshape the European landscape.

MilaK is a biotechnology start-up developing next-generation, animal-free whey protein. Currently in the research and development phase, the company has secured support from Innovate UK and recently established operations at Discovery Park in Kent. There, MilaK is building its scientific team and advancing precision-based milk protein innovation.

Initially focused on the sports nutrition market, the company has signalled broader ambitions across adjacent nutrition categories, reflecting the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance protein solutions.

GoFitt, operating on the consumer-facing side of the venture, develops high-quality supplements and lifestyle products for an increasingly health-conscious market.

The brand centres on clean ingredients, considered formulation, and performance-led outcomes, positioning itself to meet the evolving expectations of active consumers seeking both efficacy and transparency.

Founder Milena Hutchings explained that joining ESSNA reflects the company’s “commitment to responsible innovation within the European sports and specialist nutrition ecosystem,” emphasising that “regulatory alignment, scientific integrity, and crossindustry collaboration are essential to building trust and long-term impact.”

ESSNA Chair, Dr Luca Bucchini, welcomed both companies, emphasising that “their decision to join comes at a pivotal time, as significant policy and regulatory developments are taking place across Europe.”

He noted that their membership highlights “the impact of ESSNA’s work and the increasing recognition among companies of the importance of engaging constructively with policymakers under a strong and united industry voice,” adding that ESSNA looks forward to continuing to expand its membership and support the sustainable growth of the sector in the years ahead.

Founded in 2003, ESSNA represents specialised brands, manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and life sciences organisations across Europe. The association works to promote high standards across the sports and active nutrition sector while advocating for proportionate, science-based legislation that supports innovation and consumer confidence.
